CHRISTIAN CONCERT
On Sunday, September 20, we invite the congregation and guests for a Christian Concert – and evening with Chris Driesbach. Chris Driesbach had been an atheist until, by God's grace, he heard the Gospel and was converted to a believer in Jesus. Now he lives as a singer / song writer who proclaims that same Gospel in his songs.
Chris was a resident in New Orleans at the time of Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing flooding of New Orleans after the levies broke. In response to God's goodness to him personally and for the support of the recovery of New Orleans, Chris Driesbach has been on a tour of WELS churches for the past ten years.
The concert will be at 7:00 PM on September 20. We are hoping to entice people by including a supper at 6:00 PM (Sign Up Genius e-mail coming soon!) with the concert to follow. We will have a free-will offering to help defray Chris' expenses in his travels. His CD's will also be available for purchase. Invite your friends to this event!
HYMNFEST
We all have favorite hymns, and we all like the sound of a robust congregation belting out those hymns with us. With that in mind, we will have a Hymnfest on October 11.
In order to prepare for this, we need to know what your favorite hymns are. You can e-mail me back with your suggestions, or you can fill out the half-sheet form which will be in the bulletin for the next few Sundays. NOTE: If you need more than five spaces for your favorites, take additional sheets. Suggestions will be received through Sunday, September 20.
CHRISTIAN WORSHIP SUPPLEMENT (CWS) – DIVINE SERVICE I
We will be introducing one of the liturgies form the CWS this fall. This liturgy is known as Divine Service I. Since it seems likely that this order of service will be in the next new hymnal (due out in about 2024), it would serve us well to be familiar with it. In order to prepare ourselves for this liturgy's Sunday use, we will take time at the conclusion of our services over the next few Sundays to practice the sung portions of Divine Service I. We will use Divine Service I for our Sunday service beginning October 18.
